A Resounding Success
First round of 2010 Best of INPUT in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
Best of International Public Television Screening Conference, or Best of INPUT, is one of the most thrilling events in Taiwan organized every year by Public Television Service Foundation to screen quality worldwide films from the yearly Input selections. This year, the first round of Best of Input took place from Dec 17 to Dec 19 at the Kaohsiung Film Archive beside the Love River. A total of 11 films from 9 countries were screened, attracting nearly 1800 attendees during the 3 days.
Michael Schaap, the director of《The Erectionman》from Holland and Isaac Isitan, the Canadian director of 《The Women of Brukman》were invited to attend the screening and Q&A session afterwards to interact with our audience. Michael Schaap, whose film images were used as the main art design element for this event, received great attention from the audiences, and had a lively discussion with the Taiwanese audience after screening. He was very happy to have this chance to interact with an audience from a different culture regarding this “hot” issue. Isaac Isitan, whose film documented the legal struggles at Brukman’s clothing factory, received many thought-provoking questions about his unique film during the Q&A session.
In spite of the unusual cold wave in Kaohsiung, the number of participants was uninfluenced. Even for the outdoor evening screening, seats were fully occupied regardless of the shivering conditions, showing the irresistible passion and enthusiasm from attendees.
This Best of INPUT is going to be held in Taipei from 2011 Jan 14 to Jan 16 at Cinema 7 Theater.
