6. eMerging Media - From a TV Maker's Perspective
Session run by: François Smit
Time & Date: 09:30, 9 May
Room: Blue Room
Let’s take some stock of the Emerging Media landscape before we re-enter into the world of making programmes for “TV Plus”.
Let’s look at some online strategies, and see how it fits in with what we are producing for our audience. What are the major expectations our audiences have for us when we start narrowcasting to them?
Is there any possible way of anticipating how the the wide-spread use of social media will be affecting our jobs as TV makers?
So many things interfere with our roles as TV makers, as journalists and as broadcasters in the online world - all reasons why we as TV makers have been reluctant to seize this new medium and make it our own. In the session, we will be looking at a few online productions some with a strong linear programme connection and others without. Let’s look at the pitfalls, the possibilities and the great challenges this medium offers so that we can be ready for it when we sit down in front of our next project.
